Is the workplace bad for your brain?First Annual National Brain Conference for Business |

What impact does the business environment have on your brain—and therefore on your personal and professional life? High stress, long hours, fast food, and alcohol all decrease brain integration. Maharishi University of Management’s Institute of Corporate Development offers business the “EEG Stress Test and Brain Integration Score Card” to begin to assess the effects of the workplace on brain functioning by providing a measure of integration of brain functioning along with scores on standards of psychological measurements and evaluation of subjective reports of self-development. The five components of this assessment include: brain wave patterns during tasks; emotional stability levels; moral reasoning levels; practical intelligence, behavioral strategies, emotional response strategies, and categorical thinking; and self-report measures of development of consciousness. Research indicates that the growth of these measures are indicators of increasing health, happiness and success.
